Privacy notice.

How we collect, use and look after your personal information, and what you can ask us to do with it. This notice is issued in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

01

Who we are

Fly Obsidian (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for the personal information described here. We are a private charter arranger based at Hangar 6, Lanseria International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Any question about this notice, and any request set out in section 06, should be sent to info@flyobsidian.co.za. It reaches our Information Officer.

02

What we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us. If you complete an enquiry we collect your name, optionally your company, your email address and telephone number, your preferred means of contact, and the details of the trip: origin, destination, date, number of passengers, the nature of the trip and any notes you add.

We do not run advertising trackers or analytics on this site, and we do not use cookies to profile you.

Two technical points, stated plainly because they are easy to miss. Typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google and Google receives your IP address. And when you submit an enquiry, a copy of what you typed is saved in your own browser's local storage so the form can be restored — that copy stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.

03

Why we collect it

To answer your enquiry and arrange the flight. That means understanding the trip, sourcing a suitable aircraft and operator, quoting you, and coordinating the movement if you go ahead.

Supplying this information is voluntary. If you would rather not, you are welcome to email us instead — but without the trip details we cannot quote or arrange anything.

04

Who we share it with

Arranging a charter means giving third parties enough information to do their part. Depending on the trip, that can include aircraft operators we source from, ground handling agents, and, where a flight crosses a border, immigration, customs and civil aviation authorities who require passenger details by law.

Your enquiry is delivered to us by an email delivery service acting as our operator. It handles the message on our instruction and for no other purpose.

We share the minimum needed for each purpose. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Where a trip involves a destination outside South Africa, your information will necessarily be transferred to parties in that country in order to operate the flight.

05

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and to keep a record of trips we have arranged for you. Where aviation, immigration or tax rules require a longer retention period, we follow those. You can ask us to delete your information at any time — see below.

06

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to:

  • confirm what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct or update anything that is wrong or out of date;
  • delete information we no longer have a reason to keep;
  • stop using your information for a particular purpose.

Write to info@flyobsidian.co.za and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa, which is the body that oversees POPIA.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Fly Obsidian is a new company and this notice will be revised as the business takes shape.
